For almost three months in 2024, one of the most photographed women in the world — the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton — disappeared. What followed was a maelstrom of conspiratorial speculation from the internet hivemind: was she getting a BBL? Was she replaced by a robot doppelganger? Was she DEAD??
The Princess is Not Dead is a motion capture puppetry piece about personhood in the age of deepfakes and conspiracy theories. Five puppeteers search for clues to understand Princess Kate’s absence from the most notorious family in the Western world.
